When are University buildings open?
Service Desk

The Service Desk at Háskólatorg is often the first stop for students seeking information and assistance. In some cases, it also provides services on behalf of the service units located there.

For example, you can obtain certificates and transcripts, purchase printing credits and gym access, get help accessing Ugla, and much more.

IT Services – Technical Support

IT Services at the University of Iceland manage the University's core systems and technical services, including Ugla and SmáUgla, Eduroam (the University's wireless network), computer labs, and printers across campus.

IT support is located in the same area as the Service Desk at Háskólatorg. Users can get guidance and help with technical issues there.

Student Registry

The Student Registry at the University of Iceland provides services for students, teachers, and other staff, and maintains records of all students.

These records form the foundation of all academic organisations, including timetables, exams, room bookings, book purchases, and more.

The Student Registry is responsible for, among other things, undergraduate applications, student registration, the collection of registration fees, registration for makeup exams and graduation.

Student Counselling

Student Counselling at the University of Iceland supports you in your studies and helps you prepare for your next steps.

You can get help with:

  • study skills, exam preparation, and exam techniques
  • job searching, interviews, and CV writing
  • study choices and academic decision-making

They also offer:

  • specialised support in studies
  • advice related to disabilities or impairments
  • personal and psychological counselling

Courses and workshops

Practical workshops are regularly offered, for example, on time management, goal setting, exam preparation, and final projects.

They also provide guidance for prospective students considering studying at the University of Iceland.

Student Services – FS

Student Services (FS) is a self-governing institution,  primarily a service organisation for students at the University of Iceland. Its main goal is to provide good services at reasonable prices and improve students' quality of life. FS operates:

The University Bookstore

Bookstore

The University Bookstore provides students with textbooks and other study materials at reasonable prices.

The Bookstore also serves other universities, secondary schools, and various institutions, offering a wide selection of academic books and reference materials.

You can shop both in-store and online via the Bookstore website, where home delivery is available.

The Student Café and Student Co-op are located within the University Bookstore.
 

Student Council

The Student Council of the University of Iceland consists of 27 students. Its work is broad and varied, ranging from advocating for student interests to organising social events such as Oktoberfest.

The Student Council office also employs a rights and student loan advisor who can assist students who believe their rights have been violated.
