Parking on campus is subject to a fee. Students and staff can subscribe.

Parking on campus is open to everyone for a fee. Visitors pay only by the hour and are not eligible for a subscription.
Subscription
Charging started on 18 August 2025 and applies on weekdays from 7:00 to 17:00. A monthly subscription costs ISK 1,500, and registration is done via the Parka app.
UI staff and students must grant Parka permission in Ugla to confirm their active studies or employment at the University.
Parking will cost ISK 230 per hour in all UI parking spaces (equivalent to the P4 to zone P4 with the Reykjavík Parking Service).
Make sure you register the correct vehicle in the app
Each individual can register more than one vehicle under their subscription, but only one can be active at a time. New registration numbers are added in the Parka app, and in the subscription section, you choose which vehicle is active at any given time. If you forget to do that, you may receive a fine.
Cancel subscription
Users with a Parka subscription at the University of Iceland are responsible for cancelling their subscription via the Parka app if they wish to do so.
If users wish to cancel their subscription, for example during the summer months, it is their responsibility to cancel it and then renew it before they return to the University.
The Parka subscription renews each month automatically unless cancelled.
Parking spaces are divided into two categories:
- Selected short-term parking spaces (H1) near buildings are charged by the hour.
- Hourly fees apply to other spaces, but staff and students can use them as long-term parking with a monthly subscription (H2).
Additional information
- People with a disabled parking permit can park in any space free of charge.
- Staff and students at Læknagarður will be able to use the same monthly parking permits at Landspítali University Hospital.
- UI will consult with Landspítali University Hospital and other nearby institutions to determine the exact arrangements. It will be ensured that students and staff in the School of Health Sciences, who need to visit both the main UI campus and Landspítali University Hospital, are not double-charged.
