Changes to the University of Hólar's IT Systems

On 25 June 2026, changes will be made to the University of Hólar's IT systems as part of the integration with the University of Iceland's systems.

The changes will be carried out between 9:00 and 10:00 on 25 June 2026.

During this time, the University of Hólar's IT systems are expected to be inaccessible. Some disruptions may also be expected on 25 and 26 June while finalising loose ends after the change.

What will change?

Ugla

All data from the University of Hólar's Ugla system will be transferred to the University of Iceland's Ugla system.

After the change, access to Ugla will be through:

https://ugla.hi.is

Usernames

Users will be transferred from the University of Hólar's central user management to the University of Iceland's central user management.

All usernames will end with @hi.is.

Staff

• Will keep their current username if it is available at the University of Iceland
• Will receive a new username if the same username is already in use at the University of Iceland.

Students

• All students will receive a new username.
• Students can obtain information about their new username by contacting the University of Iceland's IT Services.

New password

After the change, all users will need to get a new password

How do I change my password?

1. Go to https://lykilord.menntasky.is/.
2. Log in with electronic ID through Ísland.is.
3. Select University of Iceland.
4. Click on Change password.

Email and Microsoft 365

After the change, email can be accessed at:

https://outlook.hi.is
https://office.hi.is

Microsoft Authenticator

There is no need to reinstall Microsoft Authenticator. The app will continue to work even if the old email address still appears there.

Shortcuts in Microsoft 365

The shortcuts (app launcher) in Microsoft 365 may not work properly during the first 24–48 hours after the change.
