Evaluation of Previous Studies

Each faculty has permission to evaluate courses you have completed at another faculty or another school. You can apply for an evaluation of your previous studies at your faculty, and they determine whether to evaluate the course in question and for how many ECTS credits.

Supporting documents

The application must include a certified transcript and course descriptions from the previous school. If those documents are from the UI, you don't have to include them, unless specifically asked to.

The application

In the application, you must specify whether you want your previous studies evaluated as a free elective course within the programme or equivalent to a mandatory (required) course for the programme.

The department consults the teacher in the relevant subject before reaching a decision.

The rules of each faculty may differ e.g. regarding:

  • Minimum achievement in the courses assessed.
  • Time since the test was taken.

The rules of the faculty should indicate whether it is permitted to evaluate courses that have previously been included in a degree.

How will I know if the evaluation has been accepted?

The faculty will announce their decision and if accepted the evaluated courses will be added to your Ugla.

Please contact your faculty for any additional information.
