Why must the request be sent from an UI email address?
It is not merely a formality that requests and correspondence from students or staff are sent from an @hi.is email address.
Logging in with two-factor authentication helps University staff verify the sender's identity. The HÍ email address also makes it easier to look up information in the University's systems and to process matters involving personal information securely.
For this reason, you may need to resend a request from an HÍ email address even if it was previously received from a personal email address.
Graduates retain their email address for life; see more here about access and services after graduation. If a student leaves their studies without graduating, their email address is closed, along with other services to which it provided access.
