Wireless internet

Wireless internet is included, and each room has its own router. There is also a router in the shared kitchen, which all guests can use.

The SSID and password are written on the router in your room. If you can't connect to it or get a signal from the router in the shared kitchen, you can email gestaibudir@hi.is. and request the SSID and password for the router located closest to your room.

TV
The University of Iceland does not purchase any television services.
Who do I contact if I lock myself out or if there is a problem with the accommodation?

If something is broken in the room, please email gestaibudir@hi.is.

  • During office hours, you can contact the University Centre Service Desk (Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm, Friday, 8:30 am - 3:00 pm) at 525-4000.
  • Weekdays from 4 pm to 8 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 am to 8 pm, you can call 773-8011.
  • If you have locked yourself out outside the Service Desk's opening hours, please contact Öryggismiðstöðin, the security company, at 530-2400 for assistance. Please note that if an employee of theirs is required to visit the site for help, an additional fee will be charged to the room.
  • For emergencies (serious accidents, acute illness) call 112. If you would like advice on an illness, you can book a telephone consultation by calling 1700.
Places to eat and grocery shops nearby

The university campus features several cafeterias and restaurants.

 Bus on campus
  • There are bus stops near most UI buildings.
  • At the University Centre, a screen displays the real-time locations of buses, as well as the arrivals and departures at the University bus stops on Suðurgata and Hringbraut.

Phone numbers to call if a problem occurs:

  • During office hours, please contact the Service Desk at the University Centre (Mon–Thu 8:30–16:00, Fri 8:30–15:00), tel. 525-4000.
  • You can call the Service Desk duty phone at 883-3888 during these hours:
    • Monday to Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
    • Fridays from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm
    • Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • If the key is left inside the room and on-call service is required, a fee is charged according to the price list. This applies outside the Service Desk's opening hours.
  • Outside these hours, you can call the Security company Öryggismiðstöðin at 530-2400 for assistance. Please note that if an employee of theirs is called to the site for assistance, an extra fee will be charged to the room (this only applies if the guest has lost the key themselves)
