You can find Libraries at a few locations on the University campus. Aside from lending books, the libraries offer various other services, including assistance with academic writing at the University's Centre for Writing and access to e-resources.
Libraries
National and University Library
The National and University Library of Iceland provides a wide range of support services for faculty, staff and students, such as:
- Reading facilities
- Study facilities for individuals and groups
- Lending of study material from the library's collection
- Quality library services on weekdays
Students can book an appointment with an information specialist at the library, where the aim is to introduce library resources, support information literacy and teach efficient strategies for academic research. Students of the University of Iceland do not pay for National Library cards; displaying a valid student card is sufficient.
Education Library in Saga
The Education Library is located on the 2nd floor of Saga. The library contains a collection of children's books, teaching materials for preschool and elementary school levels, and study spaces.
Law Library in Lögberg
The Law Library is located on the third floor at Lögberg and is the largest law library in the country.
The library is open to everyone, but the books are generally not for loan, except to students and teachers of the Faculty of Law.
University Hospital Division
Landspítali - University Hospital, Division of Library and Scientific Information (website currently in Icelandic only), located in Eirberg, offers a collection mainly covering subjects related to Health Sciences.
The library provides services to students and faculty of the UI School of Health Sciences, as well as to employees of the Landspítali University Hospital.
The Nordic House
The Nordic House has a library that serves students and teachers in Nordic language studies.
