Students can rent lockers for their belongings for ISK 1500 per semester. The lockers are located in Tröð, between the University Centre and Gimli.
The lockers are limited in number and are rented on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Service desk at the University Centre handles the rental agreement, collects the payment, and hands out the locker key.
Please note that UI cannot be held responsible for any valuables stored by students in rental lockers.
When/how do I return the locker at the end of the rental period?
The locker must be clean and empty, or in the same condition as when it was rented. The key must be returned to the Service Desk at the University Centre at the end of the semester, or no later than:
- December 20th for the Autumn semester
- May 31st for the Spring semester
- August 20th for the Summer season
If the key is not returned on time, an additional fee of 1,500 ISK must be paid.
Rules and Agreements
- Information about renting a locker can be obtained at the Service Desk at the University Centre.
- The lockers are only available for students at the University of Iceland.
- To get keys to a locker you must visit the Service Desk at the University Centre to obtain the keys and give the necessary information.
- The rent for each locker is 1,500 kr. for each semester.
- The keys to each locker must be returned at the end of each semester. Students must return the keys no later than December 20th for the Autumn semester, May 31st for the Spring semester, and August 20th for the summer season.
- If a key is not returned on time, an extra fee of 1,500 kr. will be charged.
- When returning the key, the locker must be clean, empty and in the same condition as when you received it.
- If a student is found to have destroyed or damaged a locker they will be charged for repairing that damage.
- HÍ cannot be held responsible for any items stored in the locker if it is broken into.
- HÍ reserves the right to search any locker if necessary if there is a safety concern or if illegal items are suspected to be in the locker.
- All management of keys and lockers is at the Service Desk at the University Centre.
