Annual Registration and Course Selection
Annual registration takes place in Ugla during the spring months according to the academic calendar. To continue your studies in the next academic year, you need to register for the annual registration. Once completed, you will have the option to pay the registration fee through your Ugla account. By paying the registration fee, you confirm your intention to continue your studies.
If you do not register within this timeframe, it is assumed that you have discontinued your studies.
Those who intend to graduate in the coming academic year should register for the annual graduation registration.
How do I select courses?
During the annual registration, you select courses for both the autumn and spring semesters.
You can then review your course registration:
- at the start of the autumn semester
- at the end of the autumn semester and the beginning of the spring semester
When selecting courses, it is helpful to refer to the Course catalogue of your study programme.
How do I see which courses I need to take? In the Course catalogue of your study programme, you will find an overview of course requirements under the tab Programme Requirements. It is important to look at the course catalogue from the academic year in which you started your studies.
Compulsory courses are marked with S. You must complete all compulsory courses to meet the graduation requirements.
Restricted elective courses are marked with B. You need to complete a certain number of credits within a specific group of courses.
Example: If three courses are offered but the requirement is for two courses, you can choose which two courses to take.
Elective courses are marked with V and are optional in accordance with the rules of the study programme.
You can see your courses in Ugla (My Ugla – My Courses), and behind each course is a withdraw icon you can click.
The last day to withdraw from courses in the autumn semester is 15 September, and in the spring semester, 1 February.
Please note that changes to course registration will not appear on the timetable for a few hours.

I forgot the annual registration
If you missed the annual registration, you can contact Student Registration and request registration.
- The request must be sent from a HÍ email account.
- The request must be received before 4 July.
After 4 July, permission from the department is required to reopen your record, and a 15% surcharge will be added to the registration fee.
