Student Dashboard in Inspera

After a student logs in to Inspera, the student dashboard opens.

  • At the top left, the student's name is displayed.

  • In the top-right corner, icons for notifications and the user profile are visible. By clicking the user profile icon, users can set their preferred interface language, view all past messages sent to them in Inspera, and log out.

What if the dashboard does not appear?

Description of issue:
We only see a white screen with a spinning wheel. It looks like the page isn't loading.

Possible reasons: The network router inside the examination room may be overloaded when many students connect at once. The student's computer RAM memory is nearly full, so the page cannot load properly.

Solutions:

  1. Refresh the browser window by clicking the browser's refresh button (or by pressing Ctrl + R).
  2. Click the browser's "Go-back" button.
  3. In some cases, you may need to log out and in again.
  4. If none of the above works, restarting the computer (which clears internal memory) might be a solution.

The dashboard workspace is divided into the following three categories:

Upcoming tests

Contains a list of active exams (marked Open or Upcoming) for which the student is scheduled to take. The exams are arranged in chronological order, with the earliest exam at the top, followed by those scheduled later in the year.
Please check the exam name and date carefully.

Previous tests

Contains a list of all exams the student has previously been scheduled to take and that are closed, regardless of whether the student completed them.

The exams are ordered as follows:

  • At the top are the very first exams the student took in Inspera, followed in reverse chronological order down to the most recent exam the student has already taken.
  • Next, we find a list of exams the student did not submit, with the oldest at the top and the newest at the bottom.
  • Note: If a teacher has granted access to post-submission review in Inspera, that exam may appear in the middle of the list rather than at the top.
Demo Tests

Contains demo tests in both Icelandic and English.

  • It is necessary to run demo tests regularly to ensure the computer being used can run Inspera exams in a locked-down environment.
  • Updates to the locked-down browser are made regularly, so students need to open demo tests more than once each semester.
  • It is also useful to review these tests to become familiar with the Inspera interface, so that nothing comes as a surprise on examination day.
