Computer Labs

Division of IT operates 14 computer labs around campus.

Students and staff members have access to the computer labs. Graduated students do not have access to the computer labs.

Please be aware of the rules that apply for the computer labs which can be found on this site.

The computer labs opening hours are the same as the opening hours of the buildings.

You can access and save data through OneDrive in the computer labs.

    Everyone with a username at the university (except for graduated students) has access to the computers and can use the services found there d e.g. computer equipment, software, printing service and high speed internet service.

    The username and password you use to log on to the computers is the same as for Ugla.

    Booking requests for the computer labs for courses or conferences are made through kennslustofur@hi.is or by contacting the service desk in Háskólatorg through the phone 525 5800.

    You can keep track of available computers in the computer labs on the following web site: http://labstats.rhi.hi.is/.

    You can access the timetable for each Computer Lab in Ugla under Computing Services → Computer labs → Timetables.

    Please be aware of certain rules that apply for the computer labs and we expect all users to kindly respect the following rules:

    • Show consideration to other users.
    • It is not allowed to bring any food or drink in to the computer labs. Smoking is strictly forbidden.
    • Users are expected to be tidy and show orderliness.
    • Talking on the phones is not allowed.
    • Users should leave the computer labs immediately if either, the building is about to close or when a teacher or other employers of the University requests it.

    Users disregarding the rules can expect to be ordered to leave the computer lab immediately!

    Computer labs can be found all over  campus.

    Common issues

    This message means that you are graduated and no longer have access to the computer labs. You can see your status in Ugla.

    • If you are a student but registered as graduated then contact the Student registration or your department.
    • Employess should not use their student accounts for work, instead they should get a new account from their departments.

     

    Employess are able to request new software in the computer labs, it can be requested through Ugla under Computing services → Computer labs and classrooms → Request for software.

    When this message appears it means that the computer is not connected too the internet. This can be fixed by restarting the computer (hold down the power button) if not then you can report the malfunction through Ugla under Computing services → Computer labs and classrooms → Malfunction.
