Access to UI Buildings

The University of Iceland operates in several buildings in three areas: in Vatnsmýri, Reykjavík West (Vesturbær) and Stakkahlíð.

In general, the UI buildings are open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays throughout the academic year, from August 15 to May 22, except during Christmas and Easter.

Further information on opening hours can be found here.

Students and staff members can gain access UI buildings after opening hours to utilize study and work spaces and computer labs.

Students who wish to have additional access to UI buildings can apply for a student card with access through their Ugla.

All new staff of the University get a staff ID card. Staff ID cards are identification and access cards that provide access to UI buildings outside general opening hours.

To change or add access to a staff ID your next administrator must send a request to the Facilities Management. A supervisor will let you know when further access has been granted.

A contractor and/or a service provider gets access at the start of their employment to tend to their work. The responsible authority for the contractor or service provider applies for access to those areas necessary for the work by contacting the Head of Facilities Management.
